By bringing together the work of seven artists who each land on different points of this continuum\, Heritage Threads weaves a vibrant tapestry of rich cultural legacies. The women featured in the exhibition consider bonds between generations\, and changing notions of place\, community\, and craft through a range of mediums\, including photography\, painting\, and sculpture. Diane DallasKidd\, Uma Rani Iyli\, Kija Lucas\, Joyce Nojima Charlene Tan and Raquel Charabati and Monica Bizzarri revisit narratives and recast ancestral practices into dynamic\, imaginative new forms\, all while grappling with material and personal history. Heritage Threads seeks to amplify the dialogue in which these women are engaging\, visually\, contextually\, and conceptually\, between tradition and innovation.
